Set Up Your Domain with Jumpseller

If you already have a domain (e.g. mystore.com), this article explains how to connect it to your Jumpseller store. There are three methods: pointing your DNS records, changing your nameservers, or transferring the domain. Each has its advantages — the table below helps you choose.

Which method do you need?

Method Who manages DNS? Best for Time
DNS Records Your current provider You have emails or other services on another server and don’t want to move them 1–24 hours
Nameservers Jumpseller You want centralized management, or you use Google Workspace 1–24 hours
Transfer Jumpseller You want to manage your domain and store in one place long-term 5–7 days

Scenario 1: I only want to change the website, not my emails

Use this method if you have corporate email hosted on an external server (cPanel, web hosting, etc.) and don’t want to move it. You only change where your website points — everything else stays as is.

Which records to add

Add the domain in your admin panel under Settings > Domains, then update these two records in your current provider’s DNS:

Name Type Address
example.com A 79.125.14.235
www.example.com CNAME xxx.jumpseller.com

Replace xxx with your actual store name (the one that appears in your admin panel URL).

Are your emails on the same server as your website? Before changing the A record, check the section If your emails point to the same server below to avoid losing email access.

Steps by provider

GoDaddy

  1. Add the domain in Settings > Domains in your Jumpseller admin panel.

  2. To point www.example.com to your store, update the www CNAME record to xxx.jumpseller.com.

    GoDaddy CNAME
  3. For a custom subdomain (e.g. store.example.com), add a CNAME record store pointing to xxx.jumpseller.com.

    GoDaddy subdomain
  4. To point the root domain example.com to your store, update the root A record to 79.125.14.235.

cPanel

  1. Add the domain in Settings > Domains in your Jumpseller admin panel.

  2. Update the www CNAME record to xxx.jumpseller.com.

    cPanel CNAME
  3. For a subdomain, add a CNAME record with the subdomain name pointing to xxx.jumpseller.com.

    cPanel subdomain
  4. Update the root A record to 79.125.14.235.

    cPanel A record

If your emails, FTP, or other services point to the root domain, contact your hosting provider before making this change.

Amen.pt

  1. Add the domain in Settings > Domains in your Jumpseller admin panel.

  2. Update the www CNAME record to xxx.jumpseller.com.

    Amen CNAME
  3. For a subdomain, add a CNAME record with the subdomain name pointing to xxx.jumpseller.com.

    Amen subdomain
  4. Update the root A record to 79.125.14.235.

Other providers

  1. Add the domain in Settings > Domains in your Jumpseller admin panel.
  2. In your provider’s DNS panel, update (or create) the www CNAME record pointing to xxx.jumpseller.com.
  3. Update the root A record to 79.125.14.235.

If you can’t find how to edit DNS records, your hosting provider can do it for you, or contact us.

If your emails point to the same server

This happens when your domain’s MX record points to the same server as your website (e.g. example.com → 192.0.43.221 for both). Changing the A record directly will break your email.

How to fix it:

  1. First, check your current MX record using a tool like whatsmydns.net. Look up the MX record for your domain.

  2. If the MX record points to the root domain (e.g. example.com), create a secondary A record for mail first:

    Name Type Address
    mail.example.com A 192.0.43.221

Use the current IP of your email server (the one showing in your current A record).

  3. Then update the MX record to point to the new mail subdomain:

    Name Type Address
    example.com MX mail.example.com
  4. Finally, update the root A record to Jumpseller:

    Name Type Address
    example.com A 79.125.14.235
    www.example.com CNAME xxx.jumpseller.com

Scenario 2: I want Jumpseller to manage all my DNS

With this method, Jumpseller becomes your DNS manager. It simplifies administration because you can add and edit records directly from your admin panel.

Google Workspace and other email services

If you have Google Workspace: You don’t need to do anything extra. When you switch your nameservers to Jumpseller, we automatically detect your Google Workspace setup and insert the necessary MX records.

If you use another email service such as Zoho or Microsoft 365, you’ll need to add the MX records manually from your panel after switching. See the guides:

Steps

  1. In your admin panel, go to Settings > Domains, click on your domain and select the Method tab.

  2. Choose Nameservers.

    Nameservers Method
  3. Copy the four nameserver values that appear.

    Nameserver values
  4. Go to the site where you bought your domain (GoDaddy, Gandi, etc.), delete the current nameservers and add the four Jumpseller values.

There should be exactly those 4 nameservers. Do not add any extras, as this can cause problems with your domain resolution.

Adding extra DNS records

If you need to verify your domain for Google, Facebook, Zoho, or other platforms, you can add DNS records directly in Jumpseller.

Go to Settings > Domains, click the three dots next to your domain and select Edit Domain:

Edit domain

Create or edit the records you need (MX, CNAME, TXT). Choose the type from the dropdown on the right:

Manage DNS

If the system rejects a TXT record for being too long, split it into quoted fragments separated by spaces:

"k=rsa; t=s; p=MIGfMA0GCSqGS" "Ib3DQEBAQUAA4GNADCccc" "BiQKBgQDGMjj8..."

Scenario 3: I want to transfer my domain to Jumpseller

Difference between transferring and changing nameservers

Changing nameservers only redirects where your domain points. The domain stays registered with your current provider, who handles renewals and billing.

Transferring the domain moves the registration to Jumpseller. From that point, you manage the domain, renewals, and billing from your Jumpseller panel — same place as your store.

When to transfer

  • You want to simplify: one place to manage both your domain and your store.
  • You have an annual Jumpseller subscription and haven’t claimed your free domain yet (you can transfer yours at no cost).
  • Your domain is registered under a third party’s name and you need to recover control.

When NOT to transfer

  • Your domain is less than 60 days old from its last registration or transfer (ICANN restriction, no exceptions).
  • Your domain expires in less than 20 days.
  • You need the domain active immediately: the process takes 5–7 days.

Transfer requirements

  • Access to the domain’s admin email address.
  • EPP code (also called authorization code or transfer code) — provided by your current registrar.
  • Domain must be at least 60 days old.
  • Domain must expire in more than 20 days.
  • Domain must not have Privacy Protection active.

How to request the transfer

Send your domain name, store name, and EPP code to the support team via the contact form. We’ll handle the rest.

60-day lock

When a domain is registered or transferred, it is locked for 60 days per ICANN policy. During that period it cannot be transferred again. We cannot make exceptions.

Scenario 4: I want to use a subdomain

To add a subdomain (e.g. store.mydomain.com) to your store:

  1. In your admin panel, go to Settings > Domains and add the subdomain.

  2. In your provider’s DNS, create a CNAME record:

    Name Type Address
    store.mydomain.com CNAME xxx.jumpseller.com

In some panels it looks like this:

    Name Type Address
    store CNAME xxx.jumpseller.com

Replace xxx with your Jumpseller store name.

DNS Propagation

Any DNS change can take between 1 and 24 hours to propagate. During that time it’s normal for some visitors to still see the old version.

If after 24 hours the changes haven’t taken effect, flush your DNS cache:

  • Windows: Open the command prompt and run ipconfig /flushdns
  • macOS: Open Terminal and run sudo killall -HUP mDNSResponder

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens to my domain if I leave Jumpseller? You can transfer the domain to yourself when you leave. We charge the renewal fee in the first year. Transferring a purchased domain is free. If the domain hasn’t been renewed yet, the fee is 20 USD.

Can I change my domain name? Domain names cannot be edited once registered. You’ll need to purchase a new domain, add it to your store, and configure it. If you buy it through Jumpseller, we handle the configuration for you.

Can I point multiple domains to the same store? Yes. All the domains in your plan can point to the same store.

Can I transfer a domain that is less than 60 days old? No. ICANN policy blocks transfers during the first 60 days. There are no exceptions.

What happens to my emails when I change nameservers? Jumpseller preserves your MX records. If you have Google Workspace, we detect it automatically. For other email services (Zoho, Microsoft 365), you’ll need to add MX records manually after switching.
