Frequently asked questions

Is the Price Wizard free?

Yes. The Price Wizard is completely free, with no sign-up and no limits. Calculate prices for as many products as you like.

Does my cost data stay private?

Yes. The calculator runs entirely in your browser. The costs, fees and prices you enter are never uploaded or stored on a server.

How is the recommended price calculated?

It works backwards from your target margin. The price is your product cost, extra costs and fixed fee divided by one minus the percentage fee and the target margin, so the price covers every cost and still leaves the margin you want.

What is the difference between margin and markup?

Margin is your profit as a percentage of the selling price, while markup is the same profit as a percentage of your cost. A product can have a 33% markup and a 25% margin at the same time.

What does the break-even price mean?

The break-even price is the lowest price at which you do not lose money. It covers your product cost, extra costs and all channel fees, leaving zero profit. Anything above it is margin.

Can I check the margin of a price I already use?

Yes. Enter your current selling price in the optional field and the comparison panel shows the real profit, margin and markup of that price next to the recommended one.
